A national joint operation carried out on Friday, May 29, led to 1,415 arrests across Chile's 16 regions. Authorities also seized thousands of kilos of drugs and dozens of weapons.

The Ministry of Public Security, together with Carabineros de Chile and the Investigative Police, carried out the operation between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on May 29. A total of 44,340 preventive controls and inspections were conducted.

The results include 573 arrests for flagrante delicto and 609 for outstanding warrants. In addition, 14,837 kilos of drugs, 63 weapons, 233 rounds of ammunition and 173 vehicles were seized.

Minister Martín Arrau praised the work of the police forces. “Last night, in just four hours, more than 5,500 police officers carried out more than 44,000 controls and inspections,” he said.

The PDI reported 1,376 foreigners inspected and notified 27 expulsions.
