Organizers rescheduled the affected games and adjusted the weekend schedule after addressing the issue. This marks the second such incident at the venue in a week.
The USA Curling National Championships, hosted at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina, encountered a setback on Thursday, February 26, 2026, when a roof leak disrupted the ice surface. The 10 a.m. session was postponed, and the 2 p.m. session was delayed, with games not played that day set to be rescheduled via a revised draw, according to USA Curling.
An official with USA Curling stated, “There is a chance that the evening draw will still be played, but we are currently operating at the mercy of the leaky roof with our ice technicians hard at work trying to mitigate any damage to the playing field.” In a later update, the organization confirmed the leak had been addressed. The 2 p.m. session proceeded at 3 p.m., and the 7 p.m. session went ahead as planned.
To accommodate the changes, Thursday's 10 a.m. session was moved to 8 p.m. on Friday. Friday's schedule was also adjusted: the 9 a.m. session shifted to 8 a.m., the 2 p.m. session to noon, and the 7 p.m. session to 4 p.m. Tickets for postponed sessions remain valid and can be redeemed at the box office for remaining weekend events.
This incident follows a similar roof leak last week that postponed a Charlotte Checkers hockey game on February 15 due to water on the ice, rendering the surface unsafe. A contractor began sealing repairs immediately after that event, though it remains unclear if the Thursday leak stemmed from the same area. Crews addressed the new leak, with ongoing sealing efforts, but no full roof replacement is planned. Renovations for the coliseum are expected to be discussed by Charlotte leaders.
Visitor Jacob Clamme remarked, “Never would have expected a curling game to be rained out.” USA Curling had prepared by covering the ice sheets, though additional work was required to ready the facility.
