Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said Thursday that her husband, Abraham Williams, underwent a nearly seven-hour operation for what she described as a rare sacral chordoma and is now recovering at home.
Tulsi Gabbard said in a post on X on Thursday that her husband, Abraham Williams, had undergone surgery for what she described as a “very rare sacral chordoma,” a form of bone cancer. Gabbard wrote that the operation to “remove bone and surrounding tissue” lasted almost seven hours and was successful. She added that Williams “had a rough night” and “is in a lot of pain,” but is now home resting as his recovery begins. Gabbard’s update came as she prepares to leave her post as Director of National Intelligence. She announced on May 22 that she would resign effective June 30, 2026, citing her husband’s diagnosis of an extremely rare bone cancer. President Donald Trump has named Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte to serve as acting Director of National Intelligence as Gabbard departs. Trump said on June 4 that Pulte would not be his permanent choice for the role. The White House did not immediately provide additional medical details beyond Gabbard’s public statements.
