University of Indianapolis sweeps GLVC indoor track titles

For the first time in program history, the University of Indianapolis men's and women's track and field teams swept the GLVC Indoor Track and Field Championship titles. The Greyhounds capitalized on their home advantage at the Athletics and Recreation Center during the 26th annual event. They secured seven gold medals and multiple conference awards across two days of competition.

The championships took place at UIndy's Athletics and Recreation Center in Indianapolis, marking a significant achievement for both squads. The women's team earned its second indoor conference title, following a win in 2009, while the men claimed their seventh such honor, the first since 2019.

The Greyhounds produced 22 medalists overall, with standout performances in several events. On the women's side, junior Macie Swinehart won the weight throw, and Vivian Osagie took the shot put. Alex Meyer, the reigning outdoor national champion in the long jump, set a new indoor program record of 7.53 meters to claim gold. Francesca Maurino cleared 1.71 meters to win the high jump, and senior Hailey Orosz ran the mile in 5:04.49 for a strong showing.

The men's team triumphed in the distance medley relay, with Felix Rivet, Lateef Mustafaa, Yanis Le Mouillour, and Josue Le Cadre combining for the victory in the final event of Saturday night. Le Cadre also won the 800 meters in 1:51.67.

Conference accolades highlighted the success: Amiah Rhodes was named GLVC Freshman of the Year, and head coach Brad Robinson received both men's and women's Coach of the Year awards. Mackenzie VanBibber and Matthew Stewart earned the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award for their respective teams.

This sweep underscores the program's depth and home-field edge in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
