Ethiopia's Wildlife Conservation Authority marked its 60th anniversary. President Taye Atske Selassie stated that Ethiopia leads Africa in wildlife protection for future generations.
Addis Ababa, July 14, 2018 (FMC) Effective actions are being carried out in Ethiopia to strengthen natural resource protection and development to hand over a better country to the next generation, said the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority.
Authority Director General Kumera Wakjira said nature is not only a resource given to us but also a trust we pass to the coming generation. He noted that the Walia ibex, red fox, chilla as well as numerous birds and flowers are the identity of our country and the capacity of our economy.
He said the modern conservation journey that began 60 years ago with two national parks has today reached over 30 as a country, and numerous wildlife sanctuaries have been created in over 106 different wildlife protection areas.
