Kelowna hosts winter festival and spring craft market

As winter transitions to spring, Kelowna is hosting two seasonal events this weekend. The Rustic Reel Winter Fest on Saturday offers outdoor activities and community gatherings, while Craft Culture’s Spring Market on Sunday features local artisans indoors. Both events aim to celebrate the changing seasons and support local businesses.

Meteorological spring begins this weekend as winter concludes, and Kelowna is marking the occasion with two distinct events.

The inaugural Rustic Reel Winter Fest takes place on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the back parking lot of Rustic Reel Brewing Co. at 760 Vaughn Ave. The site will become a winter village featuring carnival-style games, firepits, beverage tents, DIY activities, and comfort food. Rustic Reel owner Susi Foerg explained the event's purpose: “We wanted to create something that brings people outside in February and reminds everyone that winter can be fun.” She added, “It’s not a Christmas market — it’s a mid-winter revival. A chance to gather around the fire, enjoy great drinks and food, and connect with the community.” Tickets are available through Eventbrite.

For those preferring indoor options, Craft Culture’s Spring Market is set for Sunday, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Delta Hotels Grand Okanagan Resort. Over 90 local artisans and small businesses will showcase items such as jewelry, body care products, home décor, gourmet treats, artwork, children’s items, and unique gifts made by independent Canadian creators. Craft Culture Events founder Karalyn Lockhart noted, “Following the strong community response to past holiday events at the Delta Grand, the new spring edition expands the seasonal shopping experience while maintaining Craft Culture’s signature focus on quality, creativity, and local entrepreneurship.” Admission is free, and more details including a vendor list are available at www.craftculture.ca.

These events build on the popularity of previous markets and festivals, providing opportunities for seasonal celebration and local engagement in Kelowna.
