PM Modi calls India AI Impact Summit a turning point for global AI use

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the recently concluded India AI Impact Summit in his Sunday Mann Ki Baat radio address, calling it a turning point in the world's future use of AI. He highlighted India's AI capabilities showcased at the event and mentioned two exhibits that impressed global leaders.

In the 131st episode of his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and lauded the India AI Impact Summit, stating that it marked a turning point in the trajectory of global AI utilization. Held at Bharat Mandapam, the summit brought together leaders from various countries, industry heads, innovators, and startup representatives.

Modi highlighted two exhibits that, he said, left world leaders 'deeply impressed.' The first was Amul's pavilion, featuring AI-powered tools to monitor animal health and provide dairy farmers with round-the-clock digital assistance. The second focused on preserving India's cultural heritage through technology, including the digital restoration of ancient manuscripts for accessibility to new generations.

As an example, he cited the digitization of the Sushrut Samhita, where faded manuscripts are enhanced for readability, converted into machine-readable text, interpreted via AI avatars, and translated into multiple Indian and foreign languages. This process, he noted, allows India's civilizational knowledge to be shared globally in a modern format.

'At this summit, the world got to see India's amazing capabilities in the field of AI. During this period, India also launched three Made in India AI Models. This in itself has been the biggest AI summit ever,' Modi said. He congratulated all countrymen for the summit's success and praised the enthusiasm among the youth.

The event showcased India as confident in new-age technologies, rooted in ancient knowledge systems, and increasingly influenced by acts of compassion and cultural pride.
