Sen. Rand Paul released more than 1,100 pages of Dr. Anthony Fauci's diary entries from the COVID-19 pandemic over the weekend. The former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director is scheduled to testify before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on July 29, 2026.
Paul, who chairs the committee, published the documents on X and said they show differences between what Fauci wrote privately and statements made publicly. The entries span from December 2019 to December 2022.
The release comes before lawmakers are expected to question Fauci about his knowledge of the virus origins and related research during the early stages of the pandemic. Paul had subpoenaed Fauci after the doctor declined to appear voluntarily.
Some excerpts highlighted by Paul include notes from January 2020 on the role of a Wuhan market and discussions among scientists about possible lab origins. Other entries describe Fauci's interactions with media figures and advice given to White House officials.
Fauci has not commented on the release. The hearing is set to examine differing views on how the pandemic began.
