President William Ruto has announced that the Kaelo-Kamukunji-Mutuati Road in Igembe North, Meru County, will be finished within one and a half months.
The announcement came on Saturday, July 11, during the burial of Patrick Baikilanya in the area. Ruto said the contractor returned to the site about two weeks ago after issues were resolved.
He directed the contractor to fast-track the 9.76-kilometre project, which is funded at Ksh630 million under the Kenya Rural Roads Authority. The road was launched in 2023 with an initial completion target of December that year.
Residents have raised concerns over delays that affected access to markets, health facilities and schools. In November 2025, Igembe North MP Julius M’anaiba raised the matter in Parliament.
Ruto also noted other ongoing works in the region, including a Ksh113 million project linking Mea and Buluu to Ndunyu.
