UFC 328 is set to take place at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on May 9. The card will feature middleweight matchups between Marco Tulio and Roman Kopylov, as well as Ateba Gautier and Ozzy Diaz. A headliner remains to be announced.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has confirmed plans for UFC 328 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on May 9, continuing the promotion's annual pay-per-view events in the venue since 2023. This follows a series of recent numbered events, including UFC 326 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and an upcoming UFC 327 in Miami.
The first announced bout is a middleweight clash between Marco Tulio and Roman Kopylov. Tulio, who earned a UFC contract on the 2024 edition of Dana White’s Contender Series, started his Octagon career with back-to-back knockouts over Ihor Potiera and Tresean Gore. The Brazilian suffered a setback in November when Christian Leroy Duncan stopped him with strikes in the second round. Kopylov, a UFC veteran with a 6-5 record in the promotion, has five knockouts among his six Octagon victories but enters on a two-fight skid after unanimous decisions to Paulo Costa and Gregory Rodrigues.
The card also includes a rebooked middleweight fight between Ateba Gautier and Ozzy Diaz. Gautier, a 23-year-old Cameroonian known as “The Storm,” impressed with three straight first-round knockouts before earning a unanimous decision over Andrey Pulyaev at UFC 324, his first fight to go the distance since early in his career. The matchup was originally scheduled for UFC 320 in October but did not proceed. Diaz secured his first UFC win against Djorden Santos at UFC 313 and aims for a significant victory in his third appearance.
ESPN Brasil first reported the Tulio-Kopylov bout, while additional details came from sources including Higor Ciconello and Marcel Dorff. More fights are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
