Aaron Rai captured his first major championship on Sunday with a final-round 65 at Aronimink Golf Club. The 31-year-old Englishman finished nine under par, three shots clear of Jon Rahm and Alex Smalley. Rai became the first Englishman to win a major since Matt Fitzpatrick in 2022.
Rai started the final round with three bogeys and two birdies through eight holes. He eagled the ninth and birdied the 11th to seize the lead, then added a birdie on the 13th and a two-putt birdie on the 16th. A 69-foot birdie putt on the 17th extended his advantage to four shots before he closed with a par on the 18th.
