On January 15, 2026, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun addressed a special parade and wreath-laying event at the Arcade Ground in the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, to mark Armed Forces Remembrance Day. Speaking through his deputy, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Abiodun emphasized the importance of honoring fallen soldiers and war veterans for their role in securing the nation's peace and unity.
The governor highlighted that the sacrifices of these heroes have contributed to the current stability in Ogun State and Nigeria, despite ongoing security issues. He praised the Nigerian Army's officers and personnel for their professionalism and dedication. "I commend the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army. Your professionalism, discipline and commitment to duty continue to underpin the peace and stability we enjoy in Ogun State and across the country. We do not take your sacrifices for granted," Abiodun stated.
Abiodun assured continued governmental efforts to support the families of the deceased and veterans who served selflessly. He offered prayers for the souls of the fallen and reiterated that such annual commemorations serve as a key mechanism for recognizing past heroes amid national challenges.
