Several people under investigation in the scandal over allocation of public housing at the Les Naus residential complex in Alicante gave statements to the investigating judge on Wednesday. They include former urban planning councilor Rocío Gómez and developer Francisco Ordiñana.
The Court of Instance in Alicante has 15 people under investigation for the alleged irregular allocation of 140 public housing units. Former councilor Rocío Gómez stated she does not recall meetings about the project or whether she took part in its processing.
Developer Francisco Ordiñana explained that the waiting list was drawn from previous promotions and that he personally called municipal architect Francisco Nieto in January 2025 to inform him of a vacancy. Nieto said he did not use his position as a public servant to obtain a home.
Regional government official Roberto Palencia acknowledged he told his wife about the promotion and processed the files due to staff shortages, yet he did not recuse himself despite the family connection. Municipal witnesses pointed to mismanagement and singled out the former councilor.
