Albert Hammond Jr. has clarified why The Strokes postponed the release of their seventh studio album Reality Awaits. The band shifted the date from June 26 to July 24 to align the streaming and vinyl releases.
Hammond shared the details in a since-deleted reply on X. He noted the four-week adjustment was made to ensure both formats launch simultaneously.
The guitarist also described the album's sound as reminiscent of a weird young band. Last month he called Reality Awaits his favorite Strokes record and said it grows intoxicatingly good with each listen.
Hammond has released a new dance punk single titled New America// with KennyHoopla. The Strokes have upcoming headline dates across multiple continents without Nick Valensi who is taking a temporary break from live performances.
