Grupo Bimbo announced Alejandro Rodríguez Bas as its new CEO following Rafael Pamias Romero's resignation for personal and health reasons. Rodríguez Bas, who joined the company in 2021, brings extensive global leadership experience in consumer brands. The change aims to bolster innovation and growth for the world's largest baking company.
Rafael Pamias Romero, who took over as CEO of Grupo Bimbo on May 1, 2024, resigned to address personal and health matters. The company appointed Alejandro Rodríguez Bas as his successor, who previously served as director general of Barcel Global and a member of the Executive Committee.
Rodríguez Bas studied electromechanical and industrial engineering at Universidad Panamericana and earned an MBA from Harvard. He joined Grupo Bimbo in 2021. Prior to that, he spent a decade at PepsiCo as director general for Australia and New Zealand. He also led as director general at Grupo Lala in Mexico, was vice president at C&S Wholesale Grocers, and director general at Acosta Sales and Marketing in the United States.
"Alejandro has a results-oriented trajectory, solid commercial and operational experience, and a proven track record of driving growth in iconic consumer brands. In recent years, he has been key in accelerating innovation and expanding Barcel's operations globally," stated Daniel Servitje, executive chairman of Grupo Bimbo.

The announcement comes months after the July death of Roberto Servitje Sendra, a cofounder of the company and regarded as Bimbo's 'first employee'. In the third quarter, Grupo Bimbo reported record sales of 107,421 million pesos, a 1.2% year-over-year increase, though net profit fell 9% to 3,364 million pesos due to high debt and currency losses. Rodríguez Bas's leadership will reinforce commitments to innovation, global growth, and sustainability.
