WFM Alexandra Botez faced a tough start in the Kids vs. Stars event on April 27, losing in just seven moves to 13-year-old WFM Ashley Qian of Canada. Qian captured Botez's d-pawn and delivered a strong 8...Ne4!, leaving the Canadian streamer with no recovery options. Botez called the blunder embarrassing but praised Qian's flawless play: “She still gave me no chances, so that was really good.”
