Amanda Johansson takes coaching role with Vimmerby

Former SDHL goaltender Amanda Johansson has begun a new chapter as goaltender coach for Vimmerby in HockeyAllsvenskan. The 24-year-old ended her playing career after the 2025/26 season and has signed a one-year contract with the club.

Johansson represented Tidaholms HF in division 3 last season and appeared in seven games on loan with HV71 in the SDHL. She contacted several clubs about a coaching position and chose Vimmerby after positive initial meetings.

She will work with the team's goaltenders, Tomas Rydén and Isak Sörqvist, at 80 percent capacity while maintaining another job. Johansson said the transition brings mixed emotions but also a sense of calm compared to her playing days.

She noted strong support from the club and said past experiences playing with men prepared her for any questions about her role in men's hockey. Her contract covers the upcoming season.
