Anna Magnusson finishes third in Östersund pursuit

Biathlete Anna Magnusson claimed third place in the pursuit race at the World Cup in Östersund. The Swede followed up her sprint podium with a strong performance and perfect shooting in the final standing. Victory went to Austrian Lisa Hauser.

At the biathlon World Cup in Östersund, Anna Magnusson, 30, ended the weekend with another podium finish. After placing second in Friday's sprint, she started the pursuit 17 seconds behind the leader, Finland's Suvi Minkkinen. Magnusson delivered a strong race with good speed and shot perfectly in the final standing, securing third place.

"I'm super satisfied with today's race," she told SVT. "It's still something else when you know in the last shooting that it has to hit for a third place. So I'm extremely pleased that I managed it."

The win went to Austria's Lisa Hauser, who impressed with a powerful final lap to overtake Minkkinen. The Finn finished second, 2.5 seconds behind Hauser. This marks Magnusson's fourth career podium.

"This weekend has been above expectations, but I'm still not satisfied; I look forward to the continuation," she added.

Among other Swedish athletes, Ella Halvarsson finished seventh and Elvira Öberg 14th. Hanna Öberg climbed significantly to ninth after a poor sprint, starting from 59th position following five misses.
