The feature, which was quietly tested beforehand, aims to pair players more effectively while prioritizing solo and squad matches separately. Additional updates include price reductions on cosmetics and clarifications on premium content.
Matchmaking Update
Arc Raiders, the multiplayer shooter from Embark Studios, launched less than two weeks ago and has already seen significant player engagement, peaking at over 264,000 concurrent players on Steam ahead of its first major update, North Line, which is now live. In response to player feedback, the developers have introduced duo-queue matchmaking. According to a post on the official Arc Raiders site, the system "is not a 100% guaranteed system." It prioritizes solo players and full squads to match separately, with duos ideally paired against other duos and trios against trios. However, the developers warn that players "may at times run into differing constellations of players other than your own."
Cosmetic and Content Changes
Starting November 13, Embark Studios will lower prices on select cosmetic items in the in-game store. Players who bought these items at the original price will receive refunds for the difference. The studio emphasized that premium Raider Decks contain no pay-to-win elements, focusing instead on "cosmetics and convenience." One free Raider Deck is available to all players, with more free and premium options planned for the future.

The game faced some early challenges, including server issues for which Embark provided in-game compensation earlier this month. Additionally, the use of AI voices in Arc Raiders sparked controversy.
