Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the club's substantial offer for striker Julian Alvarez will not stay on the table indefinitely. The comments come as the Argentina international seeks to leave Atletico Madrid this summer.
Laporta made the remarks after arriving in Dallas. He said the offer was made to sign a player appealing to both the sports management and the coach.
“We’ve made an offer that isn’t unlimited, and in due course we’ll announce how long the offer remains on the table,” Laporta said. He added that the validity of the offer is not unlimited and that Barcelona will set the pace rather than enter a bidding war.
Alvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth an initial 75 million euros. The 26-year-old remains under contract until 2030 and has informed the club of his desire to move on.
