Bootsy Collins signs Davie to Bootzilla Records

Funk legend Bootsy Collins has signed roots-soul singer-songwriter Davie as the first artist to his new label, Bootzilla Records. The signing coincides with the release of Davie's debut single, "Soul," on June 19.

Collins welcomed Davie in a statement, saying, “Davie, welcome to Bootzilla Records. You know you got a burning tent revival going on deep down in your soul, and all I can say is Church.” He added that Davie brings real soul, grit, and feel-good fire as the label's first signing.

Bootzilla Records is distributed through Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and focuses on artists discovered organically whose music blends tradition with broad appeal. Davie called Collins a legend whose sound is funky, effortless, and timeless, noting his inspiration from Black musical traditions.

Davie described the song “Soul” as drawing from blues, soul, and funk, released to mark Juneteenth. He said the track joins the celebration by lending his voice to cultural expression through music.
