Brandon Aiyuk has stated he will not apply for reinstatement with the San Francisco 49ers. The receiver has not played in the NFL for over 18 months after being placed on the reserve/left squad list in December 2025.
Aiyuk posted on Instagram that he will not reinstate with the 49ers or conduct any business with them. He added that he is focused on returning to the field this season.
The 49ers placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list last December. General manager John Lynch stated at that time that Aiyuk had played his last snap for the team.
Aiyuk must apply for reinstatement and report to training camp on July 25 to force action from the 49ers. The team holds his rights and faces a $24.935 million option bonus due on September 1.
Former 49ers executive Ran Carthon said the Washington Commanders would be a logical destination if Aiyuk resolves matters with San Francisco.
