The season 2 finale of Brilliant Minds delivered a long-awaited reunion between Drs. Oliver Wolf and Josh Nichols. The episode also introduced a major cliffhanger involving a medical emergency in Mexico.
Drs. Oliver Wolf, played by Zachary Quinto, and Josh Nichols, played by Teddy Sears, confessed their love in the finale titled The Way Home. Nichols compared Wolf to a potted fern needing care before the pair shared a passionate kiss and later appeared together in a montage that included an intimate scene in the hospital hyperbaric chamber.
The hour featured several subplots. Nichols dealt with his father Duke, played by Ed Begley Jr., who has worsening dementia. Wolf organized an indoor baseball game to help Duke reconnect with happy memories from his youth. Oliver also learned that his father had died in a motorcycle accident.
Other developments included Ericka tracking down her birth mother and Carol pressing pause on her relationship with Anthony. The episode ended with Wolf, Nichols, and Carol discovering unconscious guests at their Mexican resort and rushing to help amid multiple seizures.
