Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 update brings aim-assist tweaks and more

Treyarch has released a new patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, addressing community feedback on aim-assist, weapon balance, and Zombies gameplay. The update, deployed on November 21, 2025, also unlocks the Endgame mode for all players and introduces double XP events through November 24. Season 1 is set to launch in December with new content including a battle pass and Warzone integration.

Update Overview

The latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 focuses on refining gameplay balance across multiplayer, Zombies, and co-op modes. Released on November 21, 2025, it responds to player feedback gathered since the game's launch on November 14, 2025. Key adjustments aim to create a more competitive experience, particularly for controller users.

Aim-Assist Changes

Black Ops 7 introduced a new right-stick aiming requirement for maximum rotational aim-assist strength at launch, reducing it by 35% from the beta when not met. The patch tunes this penalty down to 25%, as Treyarch noted they 'slightly overshot' their balance target. 'Aim Assist is one of the most integral components of gameplay feel, so it’s crucial for us to settle on tuning that both feels great to play with and hits our balance goals,' the developers stated.

Weapon and Field Upgrade Adjustments

Submachine guns receive buffs to their damage range, improving mid-range performance against assault rifles, which now suffer increased flinch (from 0.15N to 0.18N). Rear Grip attachments for recoil control are enhanced, and select SMGs get baseline recoil improvements. The Drone Pod field upgrade is nerfed: charge time rises from 2.5 to 3 minutes, active duration drops from 10 to 8 seconds, and damage falls from 60 to 50.

Other tweaks include more ammo for the Hand Cannon Akimbo Overlock (5 to 7 rounds per gun) with reduced hipfire spread, and increased missiles for the LDBR Second Strike Overclock (9 to 13 per target).

Zombies and Mode Unlocks

In Zombies mode, the Ashes of the Damned boss fight is eased: the Hoard Husk regenerates with 25% more health after a minute, missiles have reduced effectiveness, and damage to Ol' Tessie passengers is lowered with no repair cooldown. Zursa the zombie bear won't spawn in solo before round 100 and moves slower. Endgame mode in the co-op campaign is now accessible to all owners, rewarding those who completed it naturally.

Additional Features

Free-for-all spawn issues are fixed, the minimap view expands by 10%, and challenges are updated (e.g., tactical equipment kills now include non-lethal scorestreaks). Stability improvements and exploit closures are included. Double XP, weapon XP, and GobbleGum rates run until November 24. Season 1 in December adds multiplayer maps, a Zombies space map (Astra Malorum), and Warzone support.
