Colts beat Falcons in overtime after coin toss mishap in Berlin

The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Atlanta Falcons 31-25 in overtime during Week 10 in Berlin, thanks to a dominant performance by running back Jonathan Taylor. Taylor rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner. Officials botched the overtime coin toss, leading to a redo that favored the Falcons initially but didn't change the outcome.

In a thrilling Week 10 matchup in Berlin, the Indianapolis Colts improved to 8-2 with a 31-25 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons. The game featured drama both on the field and from the officials, who mishandled the overtime coin toss.

Referee Clete Blakeman initially announced the Colts as the visiting team, with linebacker Zaire Franklin calling 'tails' on the coin flip, which landed tails. The Colts elected to receive first, but during a commercial break, officials realized the Falcons were actually the road team. A second toss gave the Falcons the choice to receive, but they managed only negative-8 yards on five plays before punting.

The Colts then drove 57 yards in seven plays, capped by Jonathan Taylor's 6-yard touchdown run to secure the win. Taylor, the game's standout, carried 32 times for 244 yards and three scores, adding 42 receiving yards on three catches. This performance marked his second-most prolific rushing day and best since 2021, bouncing back from a season-low 45 yards in a loss to Pittsburgh the previous week.

Taylor entered with 895 rushing yards, now at 1,139, putting him on pace for 1,936 yards and 861 shy of the 2,000-yard mark, which would make him the 10th player in NFL history to achieve it. He also surpassed Hall of Famer Edgerrin James for the Colts' all-time rushing touchdown record with 66 career scores and reached 15 rushing touchdowns through 10 games—the first since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006, who won MVP that year.

'The game-winning overtime score concluded in his his game-winning overtime score,' Taylor strengthened his MVP case, per reports. 'Whatever gets us to a Super Bowl,' Taylor told NFL Media when asked about his rushing goals. 'I means a lot that my teammates and coaches trust me,' he added. 'But at the end of the day, it comes down to displaying that on the field every Sunday. We did it all together today.'
