A man in his 60s died Monday morning while cycling to work in Laholm after being struck by a falling tree. Police confirmed the death in the afternoon.
The accident occurred around 4 a.m. on Monday morning. A passing motorist found the man pinned under the tree and alerted emergency services.
Police spokesperson Emelie Lundqvist confirmed that the man had died from his injuries. He was cycling to work when the tree fell.
Incident commander Andreas Randevik described the event as unlikely. The tree was rotten and had probably been weakened during the weekend's weather.
