President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez shared a message on social media on Sunday following the death of Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez.
Díaz-Canel described the loss as that of a father. He highlighted the support and advice received from Valdés Menéndez over the years.
The message recalled the commander's fidelity to Fidel Castro and Raúl Castro. It also noted his defense of the Moncada program since the 1953 assault.
The note ended with a call to move forward. Valdés Menéndez passed away on Father's Day.
