Disney World has completed a months-long project to repaint Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom. An associate project manager shared details of the work in new behind-the-scenes interviews released by the company.
Nathan, an associate project manager with Disney World’s Facility Asset Management, oversaw the effort. He began his career at the company as an intern several years ago.
The team drained the castle moat using temporary dams to allow safe access for painters. Large boom lifts were then lowered into the empty moat to reach the front of the structure.
"Not every day you are told, ‘Hey, you’re going to change the look of one of the most iconic buildings Disney has,’" Nathan said. "That excitement hit immediately, and then very quickly, the weight of it."
Five years ago Nathan was not yet employed by Disney. He now reflects that helping manage work on the castle is a lasting achievement.
