Djurgården has signed 31-year-old Canadian defenseman Nikolas Brouillard ahead of the upcoming SHL season. The move brings a player with extensive AHL experience to the club.
Djurgården announced the signing of Nikolas Brouillard on July 8. The defenseman joins from the San Diego Gulls after playing 374 AHL games and recording 190 points. He has previously been part of the organizations for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers and Seattle Kraken.
Sportchef Marcus Due-Boje highlighted Brouillard's puck skills and skating ability. He said the player will add creativity and offensive dimensions to the team's defense. Brouillard impressed during the Spengler Cup, where he was named to the All-Star team.
Brouillard described the move as an easy choice due to positive talks with club officials. He praised Djurgården's history and ambition. The player is set to arrive when preseason training begins at Bosön at the end of July.
