Dolly Parton has cancelled her six-date Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace due to ongoing health challenges. The 80-year-old singer shared the news in an Instagram video on May 4, noting that her medications make her too dizzy to perform. She assured fans that her conditions are treatable and she is responding well to treatment.
Parton was originally scheduled to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in December 2025 but postponed the shows last October due to health issues. The residency, titled “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” was rescheduled for September or December 2026. In her latest update, she explained that side effects from her treatments, including feeling “swimmy-headed,” prevent her from safely taking the stage while carrying instruments in her signature five-inch heels. “Of course I can’t be dizzy carrying banjos, guitars, and such on five-inch heels,” she said. “And you know I’m going to [be] wearing them.”Parton revealed struggles with her immune and digestive systems, as well as recurring kidney stones, over recent years. “Everything I have is treatable, so I’m going to stick with that,” her doctors assured her, according to the singer. She apologized to ticket holders, saying, “I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. I’ll see you somewhere down the line.” Despite the cancellation, her Broadway musical, Dolly: A True Original Musical, is slated to open in New York this fall. The announcement follows concerns raised by Parton’s sister Freida, who called for prayers in a social media post after the postponement, later clarifying she did not intend to alarm fans. Parton made her first public appearance in months at Dollywood in March, attributing some fatigue to grieving her husband Carl Dean’s death last March after 58 years of marriage. “Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year,” she added. “I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way!”
