England drew 0-0 with Ghana in their World Cup Group L match on Tuesday night in Boston. The result leaves both teams in strong positions to advance from the group.
England dominated possession with 78.8 percent but failed to break down Ghana's defensive setup. Thomas Tuchel's side created few clear chances until late in the game when Harry Kane missed a close-range opportunity after Nico O'Reilly hit the bar.
Tuchel described the missed chance as normally a clear goal. He noted Ghana defended in a 4-5-1 formation and said his team found intensity in the second half but could not get the reward.
Kane told BBC Radio 5 Live he backs himself to score such chances nine times out of ten. Declan Rice highlighted the difficulty of playing against a compact defense and praised Ghana for their approach.
Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz set his team up to secure a point. The Black Stars now have four points from two games and remain on course to join England in the knockout stages.
