Eugenio Chacarra secured a five-shot victory at the Italian Open on Sunday with a bogey-free 64. The win moves the Spaniard to third in the DP World Tour standings and second on the promotions list.
Chacarra entered the final round at Circolo Golf Torino with a two-shot lead over Joaquin Niemann and Matt Wallace. He extended that advantage with birdies on holes 5, 8, 9 and 10, then added an eagle at the par-5 15th.
The victory marks Chacarra’s second consecutive DP World Tour win after he took the KLM Open the previous week. It also earns him a spot in the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, his first appearance in the major.
Chacarra left LIV Golf after the 2024 season to pursue a PGA Tour card through the DP World Tour. He said after the win that competing against top players like Niemann and Wallace was exactly what he had dreamed of as a junior.
He now trails only Patrick Reed on the promotions list and remains on course for PGA Tour membership at the end of the season.
