FC Augsburg has appointed Manuel Baum as permanent head coach. The 46-year-old receives a contract until summer 2028 after a successful interim spell.
The Bundesliga club announced that Baum will now take permanent charge of the team. He had stepped in as interim coach after the dismissal of Sandro Wagner in December 2025 and quickly stabilized the side.
Managing director Michael Ströll praised Baum’s work over recent months. “Manuel has done a very good job at all levels as head coach in recent months,” Ströll said according to the club statement.
Under Baum’s leadership Augsburg finished the season in ninth place. That marks the club’s third-best finish in Bundesliga history. Baum introduced a simple tactical approach focused on high intensity and direct transitions.
Baum expressed his delight at the new role. He had previously coached the club from 2016 to 2019 and knows its structures well. The upcoming campaign will be Augsburg’s 16th consecutive Bundesliga season.
