A fire at the Asadero Uno restaurant in a Santa Fe shopping center, Cuajimalpa borough, prompted the evacuation of around 800 people on Sunday.
The fire originated in the storage area of the food outlet at Prolongación Vasco de Quiroga and Privada Vasco de Quiroga. Smoke spread quickly through the building.
Security staff, Civil Protection and Mexico City firefighters carried out an orderly evacuation of customers and workers. Members of the Heroic Firefighters Corps of Mexico City brought the flames under control.
The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection reported after 3 p.m. that cooling and debris removal work had concluded. No deaths or serious injuries were reported.
