Foreign direct investment in Colombia saw a slight recovery in October but fell 3.92% compared to the same month in 2024, reaching US$700 million according to Banco de la República data. This marks the third consecutive month of increase, though the year-to-date total shows a sharper decline.
According to Banco de la República data, foreign direct investment (FDI) in October 2025 totaled US$700 million, a drop of US$29 million or 3.92% compared to the US$729 million in October 2024. Despite this year-over-year decline, FDI showed a positive trend with its third consecutive monthly increase: US$584 million in August and US$603 million in September.
The oil and mining sector drove this slight improvement, with US$567 million invested, up 1.33% from the previous year. However, other sectors saw a 21.3% contraction, totaling just US$133 million.
From January to October, FDI fell 18.4%, from US$9,399 million in 2024 to US$7,669 million this year, a reduction of US$1,730 million. Meanwhile, Colombian investment abroad was negative at US$231 million in October, broken down into -US$42 million in direct investment and -US$189 million in portfolio investment.
