Several past champions are among the entries for the 2026 Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby. The event is scheduled for 21 June at Hickstead.
David Simpson returns with 2023 winner Pjotr Van De Kruishoeve after strong recent results in Hamburg Derby qualifiers. William Funnell and Dublon, the 2024 champions, appear on the list though their participation remains uncertain.
Guy Williams, the 2010 winner, has entered two horses: Crumbgraft and BH Gringos Legacy. Shane Breen, who won the 60th Derby, is also listed along with other experienced riders including William Whitaker and Sammie-Jo Coffin.
Hickstead director Lizzie Bunn highlighted the quality of the field. A spokesperson noted that former winners often perform well yet surprise results remain common in the class.
Five-star eventers Gemma Stevens and Alexander Bragg join Stephan Dubsky and Commandant Geoff Curran on the entry list for the 65th running of the event.
