Authorities in Ohio arrested four adults on Tuesday after finding 16 children living in a home with horrific conditions in the village of Hamden.
The Vinton County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Bureau of Investigation carried out a search warrant at a one-story house on the 100 block of Ohmer Street. The home, built in 1900, has five rooms and one bathroom. Inside were 16 children aged between 18 months and 18 years.
Gary Siders Jr., Christina Siders, Elizabeth Siders and Gary Siders Sr. each face 16 counts of second-degree felony child endangerment. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said at a press conference that the allegations involve serious physical harm.
Wilson described the conditions as the worst scene he has encountered. The children are now receiving medical care, and authorities are focused on finding suitable placements for them. Officials confirmed the case does not involve human trafficking.
Local residents said they had never seen any children outside the property and reported hearing about multiple animals inside the home.
