Gauthier scores in overtime to lift Ducks over Golden Knights

Cutter Gauthier scored at 3:57 of overtime to give the Anaheim Ducks a 4-3 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights at Honda Center on Saturday. The win improves the Ducks to 14-7-1 and extends their lead in the Pacific Division. Vegas extends its point streak to six games despite the loss.

The Anaheim Ducks rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in overtime on November 22, 2025, at Honda Center.

Vegas struck first with Shea Theodore's goal at 3:25 of the first period, a one-timer from inside the blue line screened by Braeden Bowman. Bowman extended the lead to 2-0 at 4:37, scoring on a backhand in front of the crease for his fourth goal in six NHL games.

Anaheim responded quickly, tying the game 2-2 with goals 34 seconds apart. Jackson LaCombe cut the deficit to 2-1 at 7:43 with a one-timer from above the right circle after retrieving a puck broken up by Vegas defenseman Noah Hanifin. Olen Zellweger tied it at 8:17 with a wrist shot into the top right corner on the rush.

Tomas Hertl's power-play tip at 17:59 gave Vegas a 3-2 lead. In the second period, Troy Terry tied it 3-3 at 13:50, finishing a 2-on-1 rush with a feed from Leo Carlsson.

In overtime, Mitch Marner lost control of the puck behind the net, leading to Gauthier scoring alone at the right hash marks. Gauthier, who also had an assist, said, "I saw pretty much a pizza right up the middle, and I just tried to turn around and shoot it."

Lukas Dostal made 29 saves for Anaheim, while Akira Schmid stopped 29 for Vegas. Ducks coach Joel Quenneville noted, "Our last 10 games or so, every game has been on the line from start to finish."

Vegas forward Tomas Hertl commented on their overtime struggles, saying, "We have to change something because we're losing points in overtime." The Golden Knights have lost seven of eight games beyond regulation this season.

Key notes include Bowman's goals in three straight games, Gauthier's eight-game home point streak (five goals, 10 assists), and Terry's 12 points in his past 11 games. Carlsson became the first Ducks player with 60 career assists at age 20 or younger.
