GE Profile Smart Fridge demonstrated at CES 2026

Following its pre-CES announcement, GE Appliances showcased the Profile Smart Fridge with Kitchen Assistant at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Live demos highlighted AI voice assistance, a crisper camera for inventory tracking, and barcode scanning, with availability set for March 2026 at $4,899.

GE product executive Jason May demonstrated the fridge's AI assistant, HQ (SmartHQ), at CES 2026 by asking, "Hey HQ, where’s my water filter?" The AI referenced the manual to locate it in the left-hand door below the ice maker.

Fridge Focus features a camera in the crisper drawer that snaps video each time it's closed. Users check contents remotely via the SmartHQ app to prevent overbuying, such as extra kale. Senior director Wendy Treinen emphasized privacy: the camera identifies items but not users, supporting smart shopping lists.

The water dispenser's barcode scanner recognizes up to four million products, auto-adding them (e.g., almond milk) to shared lists that sync with Instacart. Voice, manual, and recipe-based additions are also supported.

Partnerships with Taste of Home provide 50 monthly recipes, savable or auto-generating shopping needs. The AI creates recipes from produce photos, with upcoming spoilage alerts and leftover ideas. An 8-inch touchscreen shows recipes, weather, and scans minimally.

The hands-free auto-fill dispenser measures precisely. May reiterated the focus: solving inventory and meal planning issues.
