An 18-year-old Georgia man faces charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and criminal damage to property after allegedly kicking his five-months-pregnant girlfriend in the stomach. The incident occurred on April 11 in Warner Robins. Police reports detail a violent altercation that escalated inside the woman's home.
Lucas Hayden, 18, stands accused of attacking his pregnant girlfriend, Ja'Dyia Smith, 18, during a dispute at her residence in Warner Robins, Georgia, on April 11. According to a Warner Robins Police Department arrest report, officers responded around 12:15 p.m. to reports of a fight between the couple. Both were arrested on April 20 on aggravated assault charges, though Smith is no longer in custody, while Hayden remains detained without bond at the Houston County Detention Center, Houston County Sheriff's Office records show. Warner Robins lies about 20 miles south of Macon in Peach State. The confrontation began when Hayden allegedly stole Smith's phone after an argument. Smith then attempted to run him over with her car multiple times, as witnessed by her sister, who told investigators Hayden tried to walk away each time. Hayden eventually pulled Smith from the vehicle, took her keys, and entered the house, locking her out temporarily before letting her back in, police said. Inside, tensions boiled over in the kitchen, where Hayden dragged Smith to the bedroom. There, he kicked her in the stomach and choked her using her leggings and his arm, according to the report. During the assault, Hayden allegedly said, 'I need to kill the baby.'
