Havana Times announces finalists for 2025 photo contest

The 14th Havana Times Photo Contest has entered its final judging round, featuring 59 photos from 18 photographers across five categories. The initial selection started with 350 images from 52 participants, narrowing to 152 after the first cut. A jury of ten people from four countries will select the winners in each category.

Havana Times has revealed the finalists for its 14th annual Photo Contest, an event showcasing visual talent in Cuba and beyond. According to Circles Robinson, the site's editor, the process began with 350 photographs submitted by 52 participants. After the initial elimination, 152 images from 35 photographers remained in the categories of Portraits, Bridges, Markets, Nature, and Documentary.

In the final round, 18 photographers are competing with 59 photos: seven in Portraits, nine in Bridges, nine in Markets, seven in Nature, and nine sets of three photos in Documentary. The jury, made up of ten members residing in four countries—most of whom have participated in the previous 13 contests—will assign points to determine the rankings: 10 for first place, 5 for second, 3 for third, and 1 for fourth. Winners in each category will receive a prize of US $100, along with special mentions.

The finalists can be viewed in dedicated sections on the Havana Times website, which invites exploration of all its photo features. This contest highlights the publication's commitment to photography as a medium for cultural and documentary expression.
