Heavy defeat for Lag Edin against Scotland in curling EM

Sweden's men's curling team, Lag Edin, suffered a heavy 11-4 loss to Scotland in the EM group stage. It marks the team's second consecutive defeat, but they remain in a playoff position. A win against Austria in the next match is crucial for medal hopes.

In the European Curling Championships in Lohja, Finland, Lag Edin faced Scotland in a match reminiscent of the Olympic final. Sweden fell behind in the first end and managed to tie it at 4-4 in the fourth. But in the sixth end, Scotland pulled away after a weak stone from the Swedish team, leading Sweden to concede in the eighth end with a final score of 11-4.

Commentator Niklas Nord described it as: "They lose this match." Expert Eva Lund wondered: "It's strange how it can happen. Halfway through, it felt like an incredibly well-played match. That it would end in such a flat tire, no one could have guessed." As Scotland surged ahead, Nord continued: "No, no no. That was not good at all," while Lund added: "They went for it a bit too hard there."

With five wins and three losses, Lag Edin currently holds a playoff spot ahead of their final group match against Austria, starting at 1:00 PM and broadcast on SVT Play. A victory is essential to secure a spot in the playoffs, according to reports. Meanwhile, Sweden's women have already clinched the group win.
