Helen Mirren expressed her backing for Tom Hardy at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy on June 11. The comments come after reports that Hardy had left the Paramount+ crime drama MobLand ahead of a potential third season.
Mirren, who plays Maeve Harrigan in the series, told reporters she holds no ill will toward her co-star.
"I love Tom. I think he's the most amazing actor," she said. "I'd work with him again in a heartbeat." She added that Hardy has "the kindest heart" and called her support for him "genuine and heartfelt."
The series, created by Guy Ritchie, also stars Pierce Brosnan. Reports in May indicated Hardy exited following friction with producers. Mirren noted that the creative process can be challenging but said the team would move forward.
MobLand's second season is scheduled to stream on Paramount+ in 2026.
