The latest major update for Helldivers 2, titled Machinery of Oppression, launched today on Xbox Series X|S. It introduces a new enemy faction of socialist cyborgs on the planet Cyberstan and equips players with the Bastion Tank to combat them. Players must liberate Cyberstan through new missions amid escalating threats to Super Earth.
Helldivers 2's Machinery of Oppression update arrived on February 10, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, bringing fresh challenges to the game's galactic war for freedom. The update reveals the return of the Cyborgs, described as nefarious socialist extremists who were defeated over a century ago during the First Galactic War but have now re-emerged on the frozen world of Cyberstan.
According to the Ministry of Truth, the Cyborgs orchestrated a deception by creating the Automatons as a false-flag invasion to evade detection. Their plot involves reverse-engineering Super Earth's Star of Peace symbol into a Liberty-deleting weapon. "The Cyborgs… are BACK!" the update announcement declares, urging Helldivers to deploy to Cyberstan for new missions focused on purging corrupted code and executing system wipes.
Cyberstan features Factory Cities that produce mechanical threats, defended by new Cyborg units including Cyborg Radicals, who charge with naive bravado; Cyborg Agitators, armed with plasma weaponry; and the towering Cyborg Vox Engine, a propaganda machine broadcasting lies. A stealth approach is recommended, though not required, amid hazards like toxic waste and automated defenses.
To counter these foes, Super Earth High Command has relaunched the Bastion Tank, a four-seater vehicle for terrain dominance. Players can drive to crush enemies, man guns for firepower, or secure flanks from passenger seats. The update emphasizes teamwork: "Master your roles, work together, and steamroll to victory!"
With reinforcements limited and crisis mode activated, the stakes are high. "When the final Helldiver falls… it’s over," the briefing warns, calling on all citizens to enlist. Premium Warbonds offer new weapons, armor, and Stratagems, while training resources help recruits and veterans alike. The update requires the base game and internet access; Xbox players need a Game Pass subscription.
