Head coach Hong Myung-bo told reporters on Tuesday that his team will aim for a win rather than a draw in South Korea's final Group A match against South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Hong Myung-bo said at a prematch press conference in Guadalupe, Mexico, on Tuesday that thinking a draw would be good enough would put the team in trouble. He added that the players would prepare with the mindset to win no matter what.
South Korea sit second in Group A with three points after a 2-1 win over Czechia and a 1-0 loss to Mexico. Mexico have already advanced as group winners.
The match kicks off at 7 p.m. local time on Wednesday at Estadio Monterrey. A win or draw would secure second place and a spot in the round of 32.
