The preliminary investigation into the fatal accident at Northvolt's battery factory in Skellefteå has now been sent to the two suspects' defence lawyers. The suspicions concern work environment offences involving causing another's death following an explosion at the factory in 2023.
Prosecutor Christer B Jarlås states that a decision on whether to indict can come no earlier than autumn. He says the team is now awaiting any additions from the defence lawyers, which are likely to be delayed until after the holidays.
Jarlås rejects arguments that former CEO Peter Carlsson was positioned too high in the organisation. He maintains that Carlsson was present on the factory floor. Another manager at Northvolt is also suspected in the case.
