Apple has rolled out the first beta of iOS 26.3, following the December release of iOS 26.2, which added customization options for the iPhone's Liquid Glass design. This new beta, available to developers and public testers, includes a feature that streamlines data transfer from iPhone to Android, addressing a common hurdle for users considering a platform switch.
Previously, Android's migration process involved five steps, such as disabling FaceTime and Messages on the iPhone and using a cable to connect devices. Now, in iOS 26.3 beta, users can navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone and select 'Transfer to Android' at the bottom of the page. This option guides the transfer of photos, messages, apps, and other data via on-screen instructions, making the process more seamless.
Another addition is notification forwarding to compatible accessories. For instance, owners of devices like the Galaxy Watch 8 can now pair them with an iPhone. Access this through Settings > Notifications > Notification Forwarding. As Apple notes in the menu description: "Notifications can be forwarded to one accessory at a time." It adds: "Notifications will not appear on Apple Watch while Notification Forwarding is turned on."
Since this is beta software, Apple advises testing it on a secondary device due to potential bugs and reduced battery life. The company has not announced a public release date, but it is expected in early 2026. These changes reflect ongoing efforts to enhance interoperability, even as Apple and Google maintain competitive stances.
