Jakarta council member Yudha Permana has asked the provincial government to strengthen education and mitigation efforts for hantavirus. The request follows growing public concern sparked by information circulating on social media.
Yudha Permana said the government must provide clear information so residents do not panic. He stressed the importance of education on what actions are allowed and what are not.
Permana also urged the Jakarta government to prepare health facilities and response systems in case cases spread more widely. He noted that the potential for transmission should not be underestimated.
He recalled the COVID-19 pandemic as a key lesson for faster government action. Permana called for a joint in-depth study with the central government to prepare for the worst-case scenario.
