John Bonham's Jensen Interceptor III heads to UK auction

A 1972 Jensen Interceptor III once owned by Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is scheduled to go under the hammer in the United Kingdom. The reef blue car with red interior will be offered by Iconic Auctioneers on Saturday, July 25, with an estimate of £40,000 to £50,000.

The vehicle is described in the auction listing as having a well-documented connection to Bonham. It may be the same Interceptor that the drummer reportedly drove into a ditch in September 1977 after leaving a pub in Cutnall Green, Worcestershire.

Biographies of the band note that Bonham was speeding and had been drinking when the car spun off the road. He broke two ribs in the incident but walked home.

The current owner bought the car in barn-find condition and spent more than £83,000 restoring it between 2020 and 2023. Iconic Auctioneers has not confirmed whether this is the vehicle involved in the 1977 crash.
