Birmingham indie band Johnny Foreigner have announced their new album Forwards! along with the single The New Navigation and a September UK headline tour.
The record is set for release on September 4 via Alcopop! Records. It follows the band's 2024 album How To Be Hopeful and contains 10 full-length tracks, including six songs and four field recordings.
The group described Forwards! as a collection of songs about Birmingham that traces key moments in the city's history. Frontman Alexei Berrow said the single The New Navigation addresses the 1945 Distribution of Industry Act and current issues facing the city.
The album also features contributions from Brummie trio Luxury Nan Smell and Bryn Bowen. Johnny Foreigner said the project reflects their view of Birmingham as both a microcosm of the country and a testing ground for national policies.
The band will play nine UK dates in September, starting at JT Soar in Nottingham on September 3 and ending at The Fighting Cocks in Kingston on September 17.
